Why Blessing Bags?

Why Blessing Bags?

Since West Alabama’s Women’s Center (WAWC) opened in 1993, prolife advocates (those who publicly and peacefully support LIFE at all ages and stages) have been outside this abortion location to offer hope and help to the women who are making a decision that they will likely,  later regret.  Sometimes, these prolife advocates are met with openness by the abortion minded women, but more often, they are ignored or met with hostility.

These women are often lied to, and told that those who are “against” abortion hate them, and want to take away their “rights.”

That is wrong.

The prolife advocates who go to West Alabama Women’s Center want to help these women who are often in a crisis, or very emotional situation, to see that there are other options besides killing their babies. These prolife advocates are there to help and offer hope, love, and life-giving answers.

This is where the Blessing Bags come into the picture. Instead of just having a piece literature to offer to the women, now these prolife advocates have a gift, a blessing, to give them.  A  little something to show they care.   Everyone enjoys getting a gift and a Blessing Bag is a gift of love, made to be given to those entering this abortion location.  Even more, it is a great way to get literature into the women’s hands because it is surrounded by small gifts.

We realize that not everyone is called, nor comfortable, being on the frontlines counseling outside an abortion location, such as West Alabama Women’s Center.   However, the Blessing Bags are something you can do individually, or in your local church, group, or organization, to help take a stand for Life.  We have tried our best to make this process easy by providing links, or relevant information, for all the items you might need. Some items we need you to get as suggested (for a variety of reasons), but there is also a lot of creativity, personal touches, variation, and love that can be incorporated into these bags.

Please pray for the women whose lives will be touched by the Blessing Bags you make, and hopefully, in the process, you will be blessed yourself.

Note- The Blessing Bag idea was originally seen on the  Sidewalk Advocates for Life (SAFL) website.  SAFL is an organization that promotes peaceful, prayerful, and law-abiding sidewalk counseling.   We have used the basic Blessing Bag ideas from their website and adapted them to fit our local needs. We appreciate them allowing us to use their information.
