BREAKING NEWS: Woman Sues Tuscaloosa Abortion Clinic Over Allegedly Botched Abortion

Tuscaloosa Thread (12/06/21)

A woman from Shelby County has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the West Alabama Women’s Center (WAWC) in Tuscaloosa over an abortion that allegedly almost killed her and left her unable to become pregnant again last December. The five-count lawsuit was filed last month, on November 11th, in the circuit court of Tuscaloosa County. Judge Daniel F. Pruet, who was elected to his seat on the bench in 2020, will preside over the case.

“Predisposed to Suffer”

The suit centers on the plight of a Shelby County woman identified under the pseudonym “Jane Stone,” who reportedly first visited the WAWC on December 22, 2020, for a pre-admission evaluation for an abortion. “Jane Stone informed [a nurse] that she decided to have an abortion after prenatal genealogical testing revealed that her child was predisposed to suffer from lifelong health disorders, including Downs [sic] Syndrome,” according to the lawsuit. Stone also allegedly asked about the risks specific to the pregnancy termination procedure recommended to her, which is called Dilation & Evacuation. She was told that hemorrhaging was the primary complication that arose after the procedure, and a nurse allegedly explained that “a patient had died following a procedure performed at the clinic, but … the patient’s death was the result of drug use and not related to the procedure or complications of the procedure.” Stone underwent an ultrasound and scheduled her abortion for December 28th, 2020. Tamer Yvette Middleton, a Georgia physician who practices at the West Alabama Women’s Center, was set to perform the procedure.

The Process

(Editor’s note: the paragraphs below will describe an abortion procedure in detail and also outline how Jane Stone’s reportedly went wrong. Reader discretion is advised.) After setting the stage with this background information, the lawsuit explains the process of a Dilation and Evacuation procedure. According to the complaint, a D&E is the “preferred method” for performing late first-trimester and second-trimester abortions. Essentially, instruments are passed through the cervix and into the uterus, where the fetus is then vacuumed out of the body. The procedure requires advance preparation, called cervical priming, to allow the medical instruments to pass safely into the uterus. According to the lawsuit, this priming is usually done through medications such as Cytotec, which softens, thins and opens the cervix before the procedure. “In order to properly dilate the cervix pre-operatively, the woman must receive the agent at least three hours prior to her procedure,” the complaint read.

Local baby breaks world record

Photo: npr.org

The most premature infant in world to survive was born less than an hour away from Alabama’s busiest abortion business in Tuscaloosa. This baby set a Guinness World Record by being born at 21 weeks 1 day old on July 5, 2020.

Curtis’ mother, Michelle Butler of Eutaw, Alabama, lives just 30 minutes from West Alabama Women’s Center where babies YOUNGER than Curtis are killed. Curtis was born at 21 weeks 1 day old. West Alabama Women’s Center will kill babies up to 21 weeks 6 days old.

We applaud Curtis’ mother for fighting for the life of her baby, even against the odds. Curtis PROVES that babies his age CAN survive if given a chance!

The Road to Reversing Roe: Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.

On Wednesday, December 1st, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, a case stemming from Mississippi passing a law to ban abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Legal experts believe how the Supreme Court rules on this case will very likely determine if states will be allowed to enforce abortion restrictions before viability for the first time since the Roe v. Wade decision & finally confront its bad legal framework.

In short, the era of Roe v. Wade’s “abortion whenever and for whatever reason” may soon be over.

But… it may only happen if the Supreme Court sees the ground swell the pro-life majority has.

Students for Life is embarking on a national See Me Now Bus Tour starting in Jackson, MS (where this case began) on Saturday, November 6th.

Attn: All Pastors, Church, & Business Leaders

God is moving in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa!!

Recently, there was a “1 hour Journey of Hope” in Tuscaloosa sponsored by LoveLife.  This event consisted of “1 hour” set aside to walk pastors, church leaders, & business leaders through what it’s like to take a stand for LIFE outside an abortion business.    A quick, 1 hour,  “preview” of sorts, to show what is going on with abortion in Tuscaloosa.

At the last Tuscaloosa event, while the “1 Hour Journey” group was gathered outside West Alabama Women’s Center, a young lady walked out of the abortion clinic (where she was supposed to have an abortion that day) and came straight over the group and said, “I just can’t do it.  I can’t kill my baby.  Can you help me?”    We all gathered around her and celebrated her decision and prayed for her.   Then a pastor from a local church who was a part of the group walked the girl over to the pregnancy center and got her connected with them.   He then had the opportunity to invited her to come to his church where he has a team of people ready to help her in every way possible.

We believe this amazing moment happened because the Church is praying!

Wouldn’t you like to be a part of this exciting event?  The good news is that the next “1hr Journey of Hope” for pastors, church leaders, & business leaders is Thursday, November 11, from 10:00am-11:00am.
Please share this information with all pastors, church, & business leaders you know!   Anyone interested can contact shaylene@lovelife.org.   For more information about the “1 Hour Journey of Hope”, visit https://lovelife.org/1-hour-journey/

We need baby booties!

We need crocheted or knitted baby booties! All colors & styles are welcome and appreciated. These booties are often given to women who are being counseled by prolife advocates outside of West Alabama Women’s Center in Tuscaloosa. They are a wonderful reminders to abortion minded women that their babies are not just “blobs of tissue”, but have little feet that these booties would one day fit if given a chance.

A blue bow and a Cross

We recently had the opportunity to talk to Miss D, a young nursing student who was considering an abortion.  As we talked, our prolife advocate handed her a Blessing bag with a blue bow, as well as a cross wrapped with a blue wire (that a prolife jeweler in Ohio had made).  She told Miss D, I think you are going to have a boy!  Miss D started crying because she agreed and had already picked out a boy’s name.

God is a God of details.  He purposed for a bag with a blue bow to be there that day.   For an Ohio jeweler to make a cross wrapped in a blue wire then make it’s way to Alabama.  For a prolife advocate to be on the sidewalk at that moment to talk to Miss D to encourage her to choose LIFE for her child.

God showed he cared for Miss D by giving her some much needed “blue” gifts that day.

God often shows his love to us through the little things in life, like blue bows.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey Condemns Abortion: “Every Life is Precious and a Sacred Gift From God”

(Life News) The notion that one cannot be an advocate for both women and unborn children is simply wrong. Those that pit women against their unborn babies are not advancing solutions, but instead making these children the unjustified scapegoats when we could be making real, meaningful progress, not only for the women of today, but also of tomorrow. No doubt, that includes those unborn baby girls. If we truly want to continue taking steps forward for women’s rights, let’s empower women and be a voice for unborn children.

In 1973, before our country had even seen a woman serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, Roe. v. Wade was decided, but the debate would fiercely continue. Nearly fifty years later, the people of Alabama and folks around the country hold this issue with such high importance that they put candidates in offices ranging from the White House to their State Legislature based on their willingness to fight for life. Here in Alabama, we will continue this fight until all unborn children are protected once and for all.

Nearly five decades after Roe v. Wade – and we are still fighting this fight.

Be a Powerful & Prayerful Witness at the Supreme Court!

(CEC For Life)

Saturday, October 2, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Be part of the largest pro-life prayer gathering in the history of the Supreme Court!

When the Supreme Court agreed to hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, they agreed to hear the most important abortion case since Roe vs. Wade in 1973.

A victory in Dobbs v. Jackson would be a major step in dismantling Roe and bringing an end to abortion violence.

It is critical that we not be indifferent and silent regarding Dobbs as many were when Roe was decided. If we do not engage, it could add DECADES in our fight to end abortion violence.

Join Purple Sash Revolution for a powerful prayer and worship rally at the Supreme Court on Saturday, October 2, from 2 – 4 p.m. This is just two days before the Supreme Court begins their new session in which the justices will hear Dobbs v. Jackson.

We invite you to boldly stand with national pro-life and Christian leaders against the evil of abortion in an attitude of prayer and praise. Through prayer we can see God shape history and end abortion.
