Alabama’s Safe Haven Law

Did you know that Alabama has a “Safe Haven Law”? And did you know that April is Safe Haven Awareness Month? Help us spread awareness by sharing this post!

Sometimes a woman chooses life for her child, but after the baby is born decides that she just cannot handle being a parent. There is help for this struggling mother.

In Alabama, the safe haven law is a law that allows a mother to leave their unharmed baby, up to 3 days old, with a hospital employee at the emergency room of any licensed hospital in Alabama. Done this way there is total secrecy and a guarantee that the police will not be called for abandonment. No identification, no signed relinquishment papers, no medical history is asked necessary.

All states have “Safe Haven Laws”.

If you’re pregnant and don’t know what to do call this Crisis Hotline (888-510-2229) or text SAFEHAVEN TO 313131.

In the meantime, continue to pray for the end to abortion in Tuscaloosa as babies are still being murdered here almost daily.

Alabama Passes Resolution to Lower Its Flags to Mourn 61 Million Babies Killed in Abortions

LifeNews reports that the Alabama Senate has passed House Joint Resolution 24, recognizing January 22 as the Day of Tears. Sponsored by Representative Tommy Hanes (R-Bryant), this resolution calls for private citizens in Alabama to lower their flags on January 22, in honor and remembrance of the over 61 million innocents who have lost their lives to abortion.

The Senate joins the House, who passed the resolution on February 11th.

Alabama has long been a leader in passing laws providing protections for the unborn. Legislation has included the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, and the Human Life Protection Act.

“HJR 24 is an important step in the mission to change our culture to one that embraces Life. Thank you to the Alabama Legislature for designating a day to remember and mourn those whom we have lost under the guise of ‘choice,” said Anne Fitzgerald, Day of Tears Executive Director.

Day of Tears is a 501(c)(3) committed to the lives of the preborn. The organization’s goal is to have flags lowered across the nation on January 22, in remembrance, honor, and mourning for the over 61 million lives that have been lost to abortion. January 22 is the Day of Tears; please lower your flag.

BREAKING NEWS: West Alabama Women’s Center Fails Inspection with Shady Practices and Rusty Surgical Instruments After Giving Woman a Fatal Abortion

Operation Rescue reports that West Alabama Women’s Center, the Alabama abortion facility where a woman received a fatal abortion last year, was cited for serious personnel and infection control violations during a four-visit inspection that took place four months after a patient died last year.

April Lowery, 29, died as the result of an attempted abortion she received the West Alabama Women’s Center (WAWC) in Tuscaloosa on May 7, 2020.  During that abortion, she suffered a perforated uterus that caused internal injuries and hemorrhaging, according to her autopsy report.

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) conducted four on-site survey visits to the WAWC between September 1-30, 2020, with a final follow-up phone interview on October 13, 2020, the same day the report was dated.

Important Hearing in Alabama: “Baby Q” Needs Your Prayers!

CEC for Life has announced that on April 7th, at 9 AM, there will be a historic hearing in Montgomery. A case that can challenge Planned Parenthood’s racist agenda in the state of Alabama will go before the Montgomery County Circuit Court. Prayers are needed!

Planned Parenthood has targeted African American families in Alabama for decades. They even recently relocated their Birmingham facility — boasted to be their oldest clinic in the Southeast — to a downtown property surrounded by a population made up almost entirely of African American men and women.

In 2018, Alabama citizens passed a state constitutional amendment to protect the preborn. It’s time to put that amendment to use. Below you will find the full details from our friends at The Restoration Project surrounding the Baby Q case and the justice it seeks for African American babies in the womb.

No matter where you live, please keep this April 7th hearing in your prayers! Success in Alabama will set a precedent for other states to follow!

By: CEC for Life

In light of facts surrounding the tragic death of April Lowery — facts confirmed by an autopsy report — the campaign to shut down West Alabama Women’s Center in Tuscaloosa is asking for your help.
CEC For Life, Operation Rescue, Life Legal Defense Foundation and Pro-Life Tuscaloosa are calling on all concerned citizens to contact the ADPH and ask: Why is this dangerous clinic still open?

Here are some talking points to include in your phone call or email:

  • April Lowery was a patient at West Alabama Women’s Center who died on May 7th, 2020, shortly after leaving the clinic. The cause of death was a perforated uterus — an injury she would have received from an abortion.
  • No ambulance was called. Instead, Lowery was released in an unstable physical condition.
  • The autopsy showed that this mother’s baby was still intact in her womb. WAWC staff should have known that no parts of Lowery’s baby had been removed during the attempted abortion, and that she had been seriously injured.
  • At the time of this botched abortion attempt, WAWC had just changed ownership and was operating under the invalid facility license issued to a previous owner.
  • The abortionist believed to be responsible for Lowery’s death was Louis T. Payne, who surrendered his medical license just a few months later under threat of disciplinary proceedings by the ADPH.

We are asking every concerned citizen to call or email the Alabama State Health Officer as soon as possible. Be respectful, be firm. This clinic poses a clear danger to patients and should be shut down immediately.
You don’t have to be an Alabama citizen to express concern. Everyone is encouraged to contact the ADPH!

BREAKING NEWS: Autopsy Report Reveals Alabama Woman Died of Perforated Uterus During Abortion at West Alabama Women’s Center in Tuscaloosa

Operation Rescue has uncovered that a woman who died after leaving the West Alabama Women’s Center (WAWC) abortion facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on May 7, 2020, has been identified through her autopsy report as 29-year-old April Lowery.

The report was obtained by the CEC for Life on behalf of a coalition of national and local pro-life groups that also includes Operation Rescue, Life Legal Defense Foundation, and Pro-Life Tuscaloosa.

Lowery was seen on May 7, 2020, leaving the WAWC by pro-life activists, who described her as “sick and pale.”  She had to be physically supported as she struggled to walk from the clinic to an awaiting private vehicle, which then reportedly transported her to what is believed to have been UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where she was later pronounced dead.

One local pro-life activist had been wrongly told by at least one WAWC employee that Lowery had died from a drug overdose and that she had not even wanted an abortion.

Now, the coalition of pro-life groups has now learned her true cause of death, which has led to questions about whether she was coerced or forced into having the surgical abortion.
