Just as Prolife and conservative views (such as Prolife Tuscaloosa) are experiencing censorship from Facebook, other big names continue to censor conservative and Christian views. If you’re not aware of RedeemTV check them out. Below is an email we received recently from them explaining their ministry of making and providing clean & conservative entertainment and the censoring that is happening to their content.
“When we first began strategizing to build the streaming service that is now Redeem TV, one of the primary considerations was the need to have a streaming service that stood for Christian virtues in an increasingly hostile streaming industry. However, none of us projected the level of censorship we are currently experiencing.
As a ministry, we have placed our titles for free viewing on Amazon Prime almost from the beginning of Prime Video. We saw this as an opportunity to be a light in a dark place and reach homes that we might not otherwise reach. We have seen strong interest with many of our titles being viewed millions of minutes each month and one title, Until Forever, being viewed over 250,000,000 minutes. As time goes on, Amazon has made this area of ministry difficult. In the past few months we have seen nearly 70% of our titles taken down or restricted by Amazon for free viewing on Prime, including our most viewed titles with hundreds of 5 star ratings and our most outspoken Christian content. Amazon Prime’s explanation is as follows:
“….We perform regular content reviews using a number of customer signals, including star ratings, unique customers, and time on service to identify content which may be eligible for removal. ….All content is made available in Prime Video at the sole discretion of Amazon and all decisions are final. The resubmission of removed offers will not be accepted, nor will appeals.”
We made multiple efforts to reach out to Amazon for more of an explanation. It feels like the harder we dig the more of our titles come down. Amazon censorship has been going on for a long time and not only with videos. It seems to us that the anti Christian push back is snowballing. Even the House Antitrust Subcommittee, just last week, called for a ruling on the “monopoly like powers” of Amazon, Facebook, Google and Apple
We are not calling for a boycott or a petition, but are thankful that God clearly lead in the timing and release of Redeem TV. Through this new service, we will continue to have the opportunity to stream goodness, virtue, faith, hope and the Gospel around the world, without relying on Amazon to help us.
What we are asking you to do is to enjoy and spread the ministry of Redeem TV by sharing it with your family, friends, community and churches. Secondly, we ask that you strongly consider donating to the ministry of Redeem TV to enable us to continue streaming goodness and light in the midst of a very dark marketplace.
God’s timing is perfect and He leads us all ‘For such a time as this…'”
